Sunday Morning Bible Study

Apology Accepted, a Bible study that will try to answer some of the tough questions about Christianity, will start after the 9:30 service today in the Board Room.

Book Club

Hope to see everyone during our next meeting on May 23rd at 7pm to discuss Peach Blossom Pavilion by Mingmei Yip.  It is a story of a young girl, Precious Orchid, who’s father was falsely accused of a crime and executed.  As their family was disgraced, her mother gave up her daughter to a relative while she escaped to a Buddhist nunnery.  Precious Orchid tells the story of her life in  China as a Courtesan.  She dreamed of being reunited with her mother and avenging her father’s death.


It’s that time again – Roll the Dice and Ring the Bell. a fun time to get together and catch up with old friends or meet some new ones. Tuesday May 24th – Brown Bag Lunch at 11:30 – Dice down at Noon. Prized White Elephants have been won and lost in seasons past. Prior experience not required.

Last Thursday of the Month Dinner Group

Famous for its New York-style delicatessen specialties, TooJay’s Gourmet Deli has been delighting diners for over 30 years. When the craving strikes, indulge in authentic NY-Style deli sandwiches piled high on your choice of thick homemade breads. Let’s Go Spelunking!

Holy Cross will be transforming into Cave Quest for VBS this year.  Week one, June 6-10, is full. Week two, June 13-17, has openings in both age groups. Volunteers, please sign up now so we can make assignments and order T-shirts for everyone. Teens think Bright Futures community service hours. To register campers and volunteers go to hclm.org/vbs.

Attention VBS Volunteers!

It’s the final countdown to the 2016 Cave Quest Vacation Bible School! We are so excited to have you on our team! We have scheduled two Volunteer Training sessions, May 22nd 1-2PM and June 2nd 7-8PM, both will be in the Worship Center. Our goal is to prepare you for an amazing experience and provide you with the tools you need to help kids follow Jesus, the Light of the World. You will also find out your volunteer role and responsibilities. It is required that you attend one of these sessions. Please contact the church office if you have any questions.

Big Yellow Polka Dots!

You will notice a barrel in the narthex that is covered with big yellow polka dots. On them are written items that VBS still needs to make the two weeks successful. Please take a polka dot and return the items as soon as possible. Thank you!

VBS Volunteers and their Families

Come help us celebrate our fantastic VBS experience on June 18th with a cookout and movie night. Cookout will start at 6PM with the grilling of the hot dogs. Crusader Adventure Camps

HCLA, Upper School Campus, still has openings in several of their summertime camps. Children 1st through 5th grade can enjoy exploring our amazing oceans,  mountains, rainforests, the Everglades, National Parks and our own state of Florida. To enroll go to THEHCLA.org/camps.

Crusader Preschool Camp

Children 3 to 6 years old are invited to join any one or all of the three weeks of preschool camp on the Lake Mary campus. Week one will center around the arts, week two they will be playing old fashioned games and week three will be water days fun. To enroll go to THEHCLA.org/camps.
Looking for a few middle school or high school students that may want to earn volunteer hours this summer!   The Holy Cross Lutheran Academy Preschool on the Lake Mary Campus has a summer camp the weeks of July 11th, 18th and 25th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday.  Choose one week or all three weeks.

Summer Kids Church

Summer kids church starts June 5th upstairs in the Community Room for children preK through and including 5th grade.

Corn Roast/Craft Sale/Bake Sale

Saturday, May 28th, 1-5PM, Lutheran Church of Providence, 1696 Providence Blvd., in Deltona will be sponsoring a corn roast. But what would roasted corn be without ribs, baked beans and coleslaw? All will be provided for $10. Carry-outs available. All proceeds go to the Vicar Jonathan Miller education fund.


African Mission

The Carlsons have hearts that burn brightly for Muslims and next year they will be moving with their newborn to the Horn of Africa to work with them. They hope to model the sort of environment they have been a part of with The Cross in Downtown Orlando. Using their God given skills they want to see people, with love and respect, invited into a relationship with Him. Come spend 15 minutes with them after each of the services on May 29th in the Fellowship Hall to hear more about what they are doing and learn how you can get involved!
