Join an L Team

Jesus formed a team of people around Himself, and we believe we should be on a team too! Discipleship and growth happens best in the context of relationships. L-Teams give us the opportunity to build those relationships as we form little pockets of community in our life. To find out more information go to Here are some L Teams we currently have at Holy Cross:

Pastor Poker – Date Change to January 9th

Before there were video games, people used to play cards! For those of you who were raised to sort and hold those cards in your hands, we are offering an opportunity to join with other like minded people to play cards for fun. We play Texas Hold Em with a $5.00 buy in. At the end of the night the winner picks the charity that receives the winnings. You do not go home with the winnings, your buy in is a donation. We play at Pastor Paul Hoyer’s house and we start at 7:00pm and go until we are done usually around 10:30 to 11:00pm. Bring your own beverage! Contact Pastor Paul for more information

“Divine Dollies” [a/k/a Red Hat group]

These ladies assemble monthly on 1st Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m., for lunch and fun at various eateries! For more information contact Grace Chewning at 407-322-8634 or January 3rd they will be having lunch at Olive Garden. Contact Alice Clark 407-323-3109 to make reservations.

Hiking L Team

Join us on January 7th as we visit De Leon Springs State Park - hike through a forest with cypress, hardwoods and other plants native to this area, including a cypress tree that is more than 600 years old. We will be departing from Holy Cross Lake Mary at 8:30 AM – Breakfast to follow at the Old Sugar Mill.

Second Tuesday Lunch Bunch

They gather for fellowship and “fine” dining at local restaurants, 11:30 a.m.!
For more information contact Grace Chewning at 407-322-8634 or Logan’s will be the place to be on January 10th as the Lunch Bunch are dining at the restaurant. Call Alice Clark to make reservations, 407-323-3109.

Date Change: Book Club – A Man Called Ove

Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. The book written by Fredrik Backman will be discussed on January 30th at 7PM.

The LWML is a mission focused L-team for Lutheran Women in Mission. We collect “mites” and do service activities to help others. Our monthly fellowship and Bible studies are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month  6:30pm and the business meeting will begin about 7:30 for those who wish to stay. Our mission is to be God’s hands and feet; to Serve Him whenever and wherever He leads us. All women, young and “young at heart” are welcome. Contact Sharon Shyrock at for information.
