Book Club

Erik Larson is one of the modern masters of popular narrative nonfiction. In book after book, he’s proved adept at rescuing weird and wonderful gothic tales from the shadows of history. And so Erik Larson and the sinking of the Lusitania would seem to be an ideal pairing. The mighty ocean liner was the paragon of civilization, big and fast, strong and sleek, tricked out with every kind of innovation, a White City on the high seas. If “Dead Wake” sounds like something you would like to read, join the ladies for their discussion on Nov 28th, 7PM.

Family Serve – Grace ‘n Grits November 30th

Each church takes a turn preparing and serving a variety of hot meals, and local supermarkets donate baked goods and bread which can be taken home. Sign up on the website, hclm.org/serve, if you and your family would like to join us in serving our neighbors.

Calling all ladies…

Please join us December 13th from 6 to 8 pm for our 2nd Annual Christmas Tea sponsored by the ladies of LWML. Light refreshments and sweets and of course delicious teas will be served. If possible, bring your own favorite tea cup and dessert plate. Also please bring a small wrapped Christmas decoration (ornaments, votives, etc.) for the gift exchange and a $5.00 donation to defray food costs. Any additional monies collected will go to mites. Looking forward to sharing this time with many of you.

General Announcements

Sharing Center

Thanks to your monetary and food donations for the Thanksgiving Baskets, we were able to fill 200 baskets! The Sharing Center filled their truck twice with all the donations. So many families will be helped thanks to your generous outpouring.

Christmas trees, lights, wreaths

We must be talking about decorating the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall for Christmas. Church Decorating will be held on December 3rd, usually start at 9:00 am. Many hands make light work. Please look for further updates as to times and needs.

Want to bake a cake? Brownies?

Holy Cross has been invited to participate in the Senior Intervention Group’s Christmas Gathering by providing desserts. Please  call the office (407-333-0797) if you are interested. SIG will pickup the desserts on December 14th.

Seminole Leagues, a Faith-based sports league sponsored by Holy Cross Lutheran Academy has received one of the first Kaleidoscope grants from the Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) for $83,000! This grant will allow them to improve facilities, secure additional equipment, and offer more sports and to upgrade the quality of their program.  For information about Seminole Leagues go to: www.seminoleleagues.com

The season of giving…

This holiday season, we thank everyone who has supported Holy Cross this past year with their time, talent and financial contributions and look forward to support from all of our members in the year ahead. If you need a convenient way to make regular offerings or if you plan to make an additional gift before the end of the year, we encourage you to check out our electronic giving options. As the pace of life speeds up, especially around the holidays, you may find electronic giving a most welcome way to make contributions. Visit hclm.org or contact the church office for more information.

Transfer your blessings from God

You can through your will or trust as a testament of Christ’s love. Your faith and generosity will bless those you leave behind. Robin Paris can assist you with that. She has a list of reasonably priced Christian attorneys who understand the process of setting these up as a part of your estate plan. And our LCMS Foundation does any legal work on charitable gifts for free! Call her to set an appointment at 937-477-9713, or email her at Robin.Paris@lfnd.org.
