Reformation Sunday Oktoberfest  – October 28th

Join us at Holy Cross Academy Upper Campus (100 Aero Lane Sanford, FL 32771) on Sunday, October 28th from 1:30pm-3:30pm for an Oktoberfest style celebration of the Reformation. There will be fun, fellowship, food, and beer, plus a bounce house and activities for the kids. This family friendly event is one you won’t want to miss.

Communion Assistants

Thanksgiving Baskets

Thanksgiving is a little less than 2 months away but the Food Pantry is busy with preparations for the distribution of food baskets to many residents in our community.  So far we’ve collected Instant Mashed Potatoes and Gravy Packets, Cranberries and Boxed Stuffing Mix, we’re still in need of a lot more of these! Thanks to all who’ve brought in donations!  This week we’re asking for donations of Vegetables and Yams.  Also, each family receives a $15 Publix gift card to purchase a Turkey or Ham, your check made out to HCLM will be used to pay for these gift cards or you can donate at hclm.org/tg.

Bethlehem Experience Planning Committee

If you are interested in helping plan the Bethlehem Experience which is coming to our church this December, please join us Wednesday, October 17th at 6:30pm for a planning meeting in the Community Center. We will be getting pizza so please either tell Pastor Chris or email Lara Jackson at ljackson@hclm.org to let us know that you are coming.

Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF)

LCEF is launching a special promotion for its 40th birthday.  The goal is to raise 100 million dollars to support the growing loan demand. This is a limited time offer. As soon as the needed 100 million goal is reached the offer will end. Look for flyer in the Narthex for details of this offer.

Lutheran Haven’s Flea Market

Lutheran Haven’s Fall Flea Market will be held on Saturday, October 27th from 8:00am-2:30pm at 2041 W. SR426 Oviedo, FL 32765. It is sponsored by Lutheran Haven to benefit Lutheran Haven Nursing Home, Assisted Living, and Memory Care.

Scholastic Book Fair

Scholastic Book Fair is coming to the Holy Cross Lake Mary Campus, November 1st-7th. On Sunday, November 4th, the Book Fair will be open to the congregation for all three services. The books are geared towards preschool aged children. Clifford the Big Red Dog will be stopping by Kids Church Nursery and Preschool classes in the downstairs class rooms. Books can be purchased by check, cash, and credit card. Please stop by and pick up a book to support early learning in reading.

 

L Team News

JOY – October 18th

JOY (just older youth) is a social group for 50+ adults. Our next meeting is on October 18th at 6:30pm. We will meet at the Patio Grill in Sanford for dinner. Our attendance is between 15 and 20 and growing. We’d love to have you join us for an evening of Food, Fun, and Fellowship.

Book Club – October 22nd

Join the Book Club on Monday, October 22nd at 7:00pm (upstairs Classroom 3) for discussion of “A Walk in the Woods” by Bill Bryson led by Kathy Sinninger.

BUNCO – October 23rd

Come fellowship and have FUN on Tuesday, October 23rd at 11:30am with brown bag lunch, games start at noon in the Community Center. Prizes awarded for most BUNCO, most wins, most losses, and whatever with bagged white elephant items provided by the players.

Ladies Bible Study – October 25th
