Attention VBS Volunteers!
It’s the final countdown to the 2015 Everest Vacation Bible School! We are so excited to have you on our team! We have scheduled two Volunteer Training sessions. One on Thursday, June 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the Worship Center or Sunday, June 7th at 12:30 (pizza provided at Sunday’s meeting only) in the Fellowship Hall. Our goal is to prepare you for an amazing expedition and provide you with the tools you need to help kids discover God’s mighty power. You will also find out your volunteer role and responsibilities. It is required that you attend one of these sessions. Please contact the church office if you have any questions.
Bean Bag Chairs Needed
Seminole Leagues, Holy Cross’s very own sports ministry, is quite proud of our first year. At our Aero Lane Campus, we hosted an Upward Sports Program that saw 172 different kids participate in one of our leagues. This summer we are hosting summer sports camps for incoming 3rd – 8th grades and are creating a room for them to “recharge”. It is our vision to have this room filled with bean bag chairs… for them to escape the heat. If you have an old one or can pick one up while you are out and about, please donate it to the Church Office.
Beneficiary Designations allow account owners/stewards to designate property directly to named beneficiary(s), reducing probate costs. These features make gift planning simple yet important.
Contact our Gift Planning Counselor, Robin Paris, by calling her at 937-477-9713 (cell); 407-333-0797, Ext 1103, or emailing her at Robin.Paris@lfnd.org.
She will be happy to assist you.
Are you a woman between the ages of 18 and 40?
Do you want to get away for the weekend?
Would you like to spend some time getting closer to God?
If you answered “yes” to all of the above, then contact (text) Sharon Shyrock at 407-719-2409 or e-mail at email@example.com to find out more about attending the Lutheran Women in Mission Retreat at the Sirata Resort in St. Petersburg, Florida this coming September 26 – 28, 2015.
We are looking for a young woman representative to attend. Your registration costs and ½ of the room cost per night as well as Saturday’s lunch and dinner will be provided. If you are interested please let us know as soon as possible as there is a deadline for the registration.
Holy Cross 101 – New Member Class
Pastor Matt has decided to offer a new member class, no secret handshakes, no passwords involved. It will be a onetime class on June 4th from 6-9PM. It will be a meet and greet with other new people, a Q & A with Pastor Matt and an introduction to our beliefs. It is a chance for you to learn more about Holy Cross and meet other people in a fun and friendly atmosphere. A light dinner will be provided.
Donations for the Sharing Center
During the month of May, we will be collecting some non-food items that the Pantry is in need of: Toilet Paper, Shampoo, Toothpaste, Deodorant, Sun Screen and Bug Spray
Embark on an Icy Expedition
Vacation Bible School is filling up fast, we have a few slots open week one (June 8-12) and week two (June 15-19) for school age as well as preschool/ kindergarten. With nearly 400 campers over two weeks, we need more volunteers. There are plenty of ways to help, from check-in to “shepherding” small groups of kids from station to station, from putting together snacks to leading an activity station. We can use all the help we can get, whether it is just one hour a day or all morning. We even have a nursery if you have younger kids that need to be watched while you are volunteering. To register as a camper or a volunteer, please go to hclm.org/vbs
Take a Hand!
You will notice a barrel in the narthex that is covered with little hands. On the hands is written items that VBS still needs to make the two weeks successful. Please take a hand and return with the item next week. Thank you!
Sports and Wacky Games
All Summer Long (June 8th – July 31st), Holy Cross, through its Sports Ministry (Seminole Leagues) will be offering full day camps for older kids. The camp opens at 8am and runs until 4pm at a cost of $175 per child. Aftercare is available until 5:30 for an extra fee.
