Expanding Our Community: The Return of L-Teams
The vibrant energy within our congregation continues to grow as we lean into the personal, small-group connections that define our community. We are fully committed to our L-Teams as a decentralized, lay-led model, which allows our ministry to flourish organically and sustainably. Our weekly newsletter features a dedicated L-Team Directory, serving as a constant resource for you to find a group that fits your life or to initiate a new circle of service and connection whenever you feel called.
The Three Pillars of L-Teams
To help you find your fit, we’ve categorized these teams into three distinct rhythms:
- Live (Interest-Based): These groups are all about doing life together and building authentic friendships. Think wine tastings, board game nights, hiking excursions, or any shared hobby that brings joy.
- Learn (Growth-Based): These groups dive deep. From traditional Bible studies and Financial Peace University to book clubs and topical discussions, these teams are dedicated to spiritual and personal development.
- Love (Service-Based): These teams are the hands and feet of our faith. Whether it’s feeding the hungry, cleaning up local parks, or partnering with youth nonprofits, these groups gather to make a tangible impact.
How it Works
To keep this sustainable for our Church home, L-Teams will operate with a “grassroots” approach.
- Lay-Led: Each group is championed and managed by its members.
- Minimal Staff Support: Beyond providing the directory for visibility, our staff will not be managing the logistics, childcare, or curriculum for individual teams at this time.
- Direct Connection: The newsletter listing will provide a contact person for each group so you can reach out directly to join.
Ready to List Your Team?
If you are currently leading a group, or if you feel a nudge to start a new one, we want to hear from you! Email LTeams@hclm.org to submit your L-Team. To be included in the weekly directory, please submit the following:
Official Name of the Group
A Brief Description (including which “L” you fall under)
Live (Interest-Based)
Learn (Growth-Based)
Love (Service-Based)
Contact Information (Name and email/phone)
Submissions to The Weekly are due Monday at noon for that corresponding week. We are excited to see how the Spirit moves through your initiative and leadership. Let’s grow together, one L-Team at a time.
Interested in Joining an L-Team?
Our ministry isn’t run by a few; it’s built by all of us. We believe that every member is a minister with a unique role to play. If you feel a nudge toward a specific team, don’t wait for a formal invitation. Reach out to the team leader listed in the directory below to discover how your hands and heart can help our vision come to life.
